6/Washington Allston sites

Washington Allston, the famous American artist and writer lived in Cambridgeport. The following sites are connected to his time in the area. 172-174 Auburn St., site of house occupied by Allston (1830-1841). 13-21 Auburn St., site of Allston’s studio (1831-1840). 193-199 Auburn St., built 1841 by Allston and remodeled as a row house in 1871. Now Cambridge Zen Center.
