2010 Cambridgeport Day
Help Us Celebrate Cambridgeport History!
On October 2, 2010, come CELEBRATE CAMBRIDGEPORT HISTORY with residents, businesses, and non-profit organizations. See history everywhere as you walk around the neighborhood. Read intriguing items on “If This House Could Talk . . .” signs created by residents and businesses. Explore the history of early Cambridgeport on a walking tour with Charles Sullivan, Executive Director of the Cambridge Historical Commission from 12-2pm. Visit the creative map display, My Cambridgeport: Personal Maps of the Neighborhood, at Gallery 263, and participate in hands-on activities (including a “Mystery-History” photo game, a scavenger hunt for kids, and a chance to row on land with the Riverside Boat Club) at Dana Park from 2-5pm. From 4-7 pm that evening, be merry at the potluck supper hosted by the Cambridgeport Neighborhood Association, and dance to music by the home-grown Bagboys. Be sure to bring a dish to share!
CELEBRATE CAMBRIDGEPORT HISTORY will be on through the week. My Cambridgeport continues until Sunday the 3rd at 5 pm and “If This House Could Talk . . .” (ITHCT) signs are on display until 5 pm on Sunday the 10th.
Everyone is encouraged to participate. Residents and businesses are invited to create and display signs as part of the popular, “If This House Could Talk . . .” project. These signs share significance or interesting events that happened in your house, building or business – personal or historic, from the recent or distant past.
