There are three categories in the Cambridge Historical
Society's Photo Collection: Portraits,
Harvard Buildings and Cambridge
Buildings (still being catalogued)
Portraits:
Scope:
The collection includes
images in varying sizes (photos, etchings, and photos of paintings)
of notable Cambridge citizens such as Louis Agassiz, Ralph Waldo Emerson
and Oliver Wendell Holmes, as well as several Harvard University professors.There
are also numerous photos of the Litchfield family and the Charles
Eliot Norton family.

The collection is
comprised of approximately one hundred thirty images divided into
three black boxes labeled Portraits A-F, Portraits G-L, and Portraits
M-Z.

source for individual images has been listed in the Photograph Collection's
"Portrait Catalogue"
Harvard
Buildings:
Scope:
The Harvard Buildings category
of the Photo Collection of the Cambridge Historical Society contains
over three hundred photos, reproductions and engravings of the University's
buildings in varying sizes and conditions.
Content:
These images
may be found in two black boxes labeled Harvard Buildings A-Holden,
and Harvard Buildings Hollis-Z.
